Growing up it was the same every New Years Day- Ham And Black Eyed Peas and Football.
My parents weren’t the go out on NYE type they barely made it to midnight most nights and New Years Day was just a day of relaxing and lounging around the house for the most party but dinner that night was the same thing every year.
The ham was wonderful but I HATED, I LOATHED, I SEETHED at the thought of eating Black Eyed Peas, they were terrible they always came from a can, they had no real flavor and they were mushy. So when I became an adult it was not a tradition I planned on carrying on.
Then 2020 happened and I thought 2021 needs as much good juju as possible. Superstition says because the peas swell when cooking it symbolizes Prosperity and Good Luck.
I hope you like the simple recipe and I hope it brings you good luck and prosperity
